My typical day abroad

When I was abroad, my typical day would be waking up around 10 to start getting ready for my classes. I would finish class around 6 in the afternoon but have many breaks in-between. During those breaks, if I had homework to get done I would sit in our nearby Starbucks to get some work done which typically lead to me just talking to my friends with me but still being somewhat efficient. On days where I didn’t have much work to do I would go hang out in the common room of my school building. The common room was a hub for basically everyone I knew whether it be friends from Marist or friends I just had met. After my school day was over depending on the day we would sometimes grab dinner and drinks at a local pub and spend the rest of the night in. The weekends abroad were my favorite because there was two things that would typically happen for me. Our school would either take us on a field trip around Ireland so we got to get outside of the city of Dublin and see the beautiful country side of Ireland. Some places I got to go were the Erin Islands, Gallway, Howth, and London-Dairy. If I was not exploring the rest of Ireland over the weekend I was exploring the rest of Europe! Weekend trips were a very popular thing amongst my friends and I. Although many might think to be in London or Edinbrugh for only three days is too short we still got to see many parts of the city by just simply walking around everywhere. Being abroad allowed me to explore places I would have otherwise never have seen and for that I am so grateful.

Speed trip!

It was my second semester living in Dublin and my friends and I pretty much had traveling down to a science. We collectively decided that we wanted to visit three countries in one week. Originally, we were just going to go to Italy for the week but we decided that taking a trip from Budapest to Vienna to Prague would be much more exciting. We had to plan this trip carefully as it was the first time we were traveling to more than one country for the week. Our first stop was Budapest were we enjoyed walking around the city and looking at the bright lights of the Budapest Parliament at night. We ate fantastic food at a Hungarian market and visited the ruin bars at night. Leaving Hungary our next stop was Vienna. We hopped on a bus and the next thing we knew we were in Austria. Vienna was our quickest stop out of the whole trip as we were only there for four hours. Within those four hours we got to experience a lot of the city and tried to make the most out of it. First stop was stopping in a beautiful small Austrian cafe and trying their signature dishes. Next was shopping around the city centre and getting souvenirs for friends and family. As fast as we got off the bus we had to get on a train to our final destination- Prague. Our train arrived in Prague around midnight, we quickly hailed a taxi to our Airbnb and slept immediately as we got there. The next morning after a long deserved rest we joked about how we went to three countries in the span of 24 hours. That is the beauty of studying abroad, we chose our destinations and have the freedom to travel virtually anywhere we desire. Every morning in Prague we would stop by our new favourite coffee shop and grab some Chai Lattes then be off with our day. We had no specific things we wanted to do in Prague planned for the day so we just wandered around and stumbled upon attractions. We went to the famous John Lennon wall and the Clock tower and they were truly a sight to see. Overall we had a fantastic time and think we made the most out of our break by visiting as many places as we could.

Dublin Experience

For my first year at Marist, I chose to go abroad to Dublin, Ireland. I had no idea what the country was like, how the people were, or their culture but I still decided to take a risk and go. I had never travelled to Europe before so I knew it was going to be a completely different experience of my first year of college than most people studying in America. I do not think I would have gone abroad if I didn’t just come back from a month of being in Seoul, South Korea. Being away in a foreign country for so long made me realize that I had a deep love for traveling and wanted to experience as much of the world as I could before I get a job out of college.

Perfect Sunsets

Welcome to my new blog! Enjoy the video of a perfect sunset I found on youtube. Watching sunsets is one of my favorite things to do especially if it’s on the beach away on some tropical island. This blog will be mainly focused on traveling and my own experiences abroad. Enjoy!
